Physical activity can promote healthy growth and development, build strong bones and muscles, improve your personal fitness and help you achieve and maintain a healthy weight. It is also a great way for you to make friends and learn physical and social skills.
Being active as a kid also establishes a routine that can stay with you for life.
In order to be able to achieve these benefits, you need at least 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity every day. If you can do more than 60 minutes a day that’s even better. This time can be build up throughout the day, during school time and at home.

For 10 weeks, I challenge you and your friends to be physically active for at least 60 minutes per day. Already you should be doing at least 30 minutes as part of your school’s PE program, leaving you with 30 minutes to find during the rest of the day. This time could be spent walking or riding to school, playing games at lunchtime or after school or walking the dog.
I too will be taking up the Active Kids Challenge to be physically activity for 60 minutes a day. I hope that you will take up the Active Kids Challenge so that together we can improve you personal fitness and enjoyment in physical activities."
